Venice Commission representatives to visit Ukraine in May – VR speaker

Representatives of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) will visit Ukraine in early May.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

 "We are now very actively cooperating with the Venice Commission. I invited its representatives to Ukraine. They will come with their mission. We will show the results of parliament’s work and the current conditions of activity. I will not name the exact date (of the visit – ed.), but it may be in early May," Stefanchuk said.

The European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) is the Council of Europe’s consultative body on constitutional law. The competence of the commission includes consideration of the constitutional situation in individual states; consideration of issues of constitutional law of a general nature with the use of a comparative approach;  creation of centers for documentation on constitutional law.
