President Volodymyr Zelensky has introduced new head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasyl Maliuk to the senior staff of the SBU.

“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Vasyl Maliuk has proved that he is a patriot, a professional and exactly the right person to lead the Security Service of Ukraine,” Zelensky said, Ukrinform reports, referring to the president’s Telegram channel.

According to the President, the Security Service is changing dynamically and fundamentally, becoming a powerful and modern service.

"The enemy knows that these professional people will not give him a single chance. That is why he is very afraid of you. The key thing is to ensure all this and not to lose it until the end of the war and after our victory. Because there will be a lot of challenges in our country," he said.

Zelensky stressed that the Security Service is currently fighting collaborators.

"I strongly believe that you and your colleagues will deal with these issues," Zelensky emphasized.

The President praised the work of the Security Service, particularly those who are fighting the enemy in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

For his part, Vasyl Maliuk thanked the President for trust and promised that officials of the SBU will not let him down, as they understand the level of responsibility and challenges.

"The Security Service is now working systematically: from conducting unique special operations to documenting war crimes of the Russian Federation," Maliuk said.

He also emphasized that any imitation of active work is unacceptable now.

As reported, on February 7, the Verkhovna Rada supported the appointment of Vasyl Maliuk as head of the Security Service of Ukraine following a motion submitted by President Volodymyr Zelensky. Prior to that, Maliuk served as acting head of the SBU.
