Biden: We built global coalition and will stand with Ukraine as long as it takes

United States President Joseph Biden has called Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine a test for America and the world.

The relevant statement was made by United States President Joseph Biden in his State of the Union address to Congress on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Putin’s invasion has been a test for the ages. A test for America. A test for the world. Would we stand for the most basic of principles? Would we stand for sovereignty? Would we stand for the right of people to live free from tyranny?” Biden noted.

In his words, Americans had to respond, whether they would stand for the defense of democracy, keep the peace and prevent open season for would-be aggressors to threaten security and prosperity.

“One year later, we know the answer. Yes, we would. And yes, we did,” Biden stressed.

In this regard, Biden mentioned that the United States did what it always does at its best, i.e. led, united NATO and built a global coalition.

“We stood against Putin’s aggression. We stood with the Ukrainian people,” Biden said.

Biden also introduced Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova, who was present during his speech, having noted that she represents not just her nation, but the courage of the Ukrainian people.

“Ambassador, America is united in our support for your country. We will stand with you as long as it takes,” Biden added.
