Zelensky thanks Scholz for Marder IFVs, Patriot battery

President Volodymyr Zelensky in a phone call on Thursday thanked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for the latest powerful defense package, in particular for the transfer of Marder infantry fighting vehicles and a Patriot SAMS battery.

Zelensky announced this on Twitter.

"I had a phone talk with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. I thanked for the powerful defense package, including several dozen Marder vehicles and the Patriot system. We discussed further cooperation to strengthen the Ukrainian army," Zelensky wrote.

The parties also discussed further cooperation to strengthen the Ukrainian Army.

As reported, Scholz also had a phone call with U.S. President Joe Biden, after which both leaders announced new military aid to Ukraine. Germany vowed to send Ukraine Marder IFVs and a Patriot battery.
