Zelensky thanks Congress for passing spending bill with support for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has thanked U.S. Congress and its representatives for the adoption of a $1.7 trillion spending bill that provides billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine.

The head of state said this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"Thank you, U.S. Congress, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Leader Kevin McCarthy, Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Chuck Schumer, Senator Patrick Leahy, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro for additional $45 bln aid to Ukraine, & for unwavering bipartisan support for Ukraine in our fight for freedom," he wrote.

Zelensky also added: "It's crucial that the U.S. people are side by side with the Ukrainian people in this struggle."

The House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress, following the Senate, on Friday passed a $1.7 trillion spending bill that provides almost $45 billion in aid to Ukraine and allies in Europe.
