Ukraine denies plotting to attack Belarus - MFA

Ukraine has rejected another insinuation by the Belarusian regime claiming that Ukraine is allegedly planning an attack on Belarusian territory.

Oleg Nikolenko, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, said this in a Facebook post, Ukrinform reports.

"On the evening of October 8, Ukraine's Ambassador to Minsk, Ihor Kyzym, was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, where he was handed a diplomatic note. In the note, the Belarusian side claims that Ukraine is allegedly planning an attack on Belarusian territory," he said.

Nikolenko said this information was not true. "We categorically reject another insinuation by the Belarusian regime. We do not rule out that the handing over of the diplomatic note may be part of the Russian Federation's plan to stage a provocation and then accuse Ukraine," he wrote.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry urged the Belarusian people not to succumb to provocations. "Ukraine has never encroached on foreign territories. We strictly adhere to the fundamental norms and principles of international law and the UN Charter," Nikolenko said.

According to him, the authorities in Belarus should stop fulfilling the wishes of the Kremlin and immediately stop providing support to Russia in carrying out its aggression against Ukraine.

Earlier, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, admitted that his country was participating in Russia's "special operation."
