Recapture of Lyman shows Ukraine able to liberate occupied territories - Stoltenberg

The return of the town of Lyman in the Donetsk region to Ukraine's control shows that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are able to push back Russian forces from the territories temporarily occupied by them.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this on NBC.

"This week, we have seen that they have been able to take a new town, Lyman, and that demonstrates that the Ukrainians are making progress, are able to push back the Russian forces because of their courage, because of their bravery, their skills, but of course also because of the advanced weapons that the United States and other allies are providing," Stoltenberg said.

According to him, the best response to Russia's attempted illegal annexation of additional Ukrainian territories is to continue supporting Ukraine. "Allies are stepping up their support to Ukraine, and that's the best way to ensure that these territories are part of Ukraine and that Ukraine is actually able to liberate and retake occupied territories," Stoltenberg said.

He promised that NATO would continue to support Ukraine with "military equipment, economic, financial support."
