Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the French National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet have discussed the situation with Russia's holding of pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine.

The head of state said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"The first-ever visit by the head of the lower house of the French parliament, Yaël Braun-Pivet, is taking place at a crucial time for our country. The number one topic of our meeting was the illegal holding of pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine," Zelensky said.

He said it was very important that all partners of Ukraine and all leaders of the civilized world condemn Russia's sham "referendums" as harshly as possible.

"We are grateful to France for the support of Ukraine and a clear position on this issue!" Zelensky added.

On September 28, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk and President of the French National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet made a trip to the Chernihiv region.
