British MP says Russia should be stripped of UNSC seat

Russia should not be part of the UN Security Council, let alone have a veto right in the body.

That’s according to Sir Roger Dale, Member of the British House of Commons, who spoke with Guildhall, Ukrinform reports.

“It seems to me completely incongruous that an aggressor state, in this case – Russian Federation, can be a member of the UN Security Council and therefore have a veto right,” MP said.

“But that said I am not clear what the process is legally in international law. Because we are doing a by international law even when Russians don't, when the process is legally to exclude them from the Security Council given that they are members. I think the position is incongruous and untenable but how to change it is a different matter altogether,” the lawmaker stressed.
