First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska has met with Liz Truss, the newly-appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, in New York, where they arrived to attend the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly.

The relevant statement was made by First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the First Lady of Ukraine, Truss assured her she would be Ukraine’s greatest friend, and the United Kingdom will not stop until Ukraine wins, and Putin fails and suffers a strategic defeat in Ukraine.

On behalf of the Ukrainian people, Zelenska expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for its principled and uncompromising support provided over these months of Ukraine’s fight against the Russian aggressor.

“We have talked about the need to continue to assist Ukraine, namely with weapons. Together with Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Sergiy Kyslytsya, we discussed with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom the terrible consequences of the Russian occupation: the forcible deportation of Ukrainian children, horrible filtration camps, the crimes against humanity committed by Russians, which cannot be justified. This is a gross violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime,” Zelenska noted.

In her words, the Ukrainian authorities are already thinking of the country’s reconstruction. Hence, the First Lady of Ukraine called for contributing to the Fast Recovery Plan and promoting Ukraine’s reconstruction.

“I believe the principled position of the United Kingdom and Ms. Liz Truss will help us to stop the genocide of Ukrainians and punish the offenders,” Zelenska added.

A reminder that the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly opened in New York on September 20, 2022.
