Zelensky to address UN General Assembly via video link

The UN General Assembly has allowed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to speak at the 77th session of the General Assembly via video link.

According to Ukrinform's correspondent in New York, Ukraine was the sponsor of a respective resolution.

At a meeting of the General Assembly on Friday, 101 countries voted for this decision, seven voted against it, and 19 abstained.

Votes against came from Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Eritrea, Nicaragua, Syria, and North Korea.

"What a company! BY hostile amendment's strongly defeated. Russia once again shot in the foot. This time in the Belarussian [foot]. Russian foot is already a sieve," Sergiy Kyslytsya, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, wrote on Twitter.

A speech from Ukraine at the session of the UN General Assembly during the high-level week is expected in the afternoon of September 21.
