Ireland to support Ukraine in post-war reconstruction – foreign minister

Ireland will support Ukraine in the post-war reconstruction and on its path to full membership in the European Union.

Foreign Minister of Ireland Simon Coveney stated this at a joint press conference with Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Lithuania following talks in Odesa, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

Coveney reminded that Ireland allocated EUR 55 million to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine and accepted 50,000 Ukrainian refugees.

He stressed that Ireland will be a really powerful partner and will help Ukraine until the war ends, adding that the assistance will continue in the future as well, in particular during the post-war reconstruction of the country and on Ukraine’s path to achieving full membership in the EU.

Coveney also emphasized that Ukraine currently protects the values ​​that unite the European Union.
