Russian nuclear blackmail: Zelensky calls on the world to increase sanctions against Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the international community to increase sanctions against the Russian Federation for creating the threat of a nuclear disaster.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his video address, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We are actively informing the world about Russian nuclear blackmail – about shelling and mining of the Zaporizhzhia NPP facilities. There are already appropriate reactions from the international community. But it is necessary to speed up actions in response. Russia will not pay attention to words and concerns. New sanctions are needed against the terrorist state and the entire Russian nuclear industry for creating the threat of a nuclear disaster,” Zelensky said.

According to the President of Ukraine, the world should not forget about the Chornobyl disaster, which occurred in one reactor, and remember that Zaporizhzhia NPP is the largest in Europe and has six power units.

A reminder that, in recent days, Russian troops have been actively opening fire on the site of Zaporizhzhia NPP and the city of Enerhodar. The enemy shelling poses a serious threat to nuclear security.
