Foreign Ministry calls on Iran to refrain from any steps fueling Russia's war against Ukraine

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called on the Iranian side to refrain from any statements or steps that will fuel Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko said this in a comment seen by Ukrinform.

He said the ministry had paid taken note of statements by the Iranian leadership, which indirectly justify Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian war, Iran has publicly declared a position of neutrality and called for a ceasefire and a political-diplomatic settlement. In this context, the Ukrainian side is concerned about a change in rhetoric on the part of the Iranian leadership," Nikolenko said.

He said that condoning Russia's aggressive actions not only encourages it to continue its unprovoked war against the people of Ukraine, but also lays the groundwork for destabilizing peace and security in other regions of the world.

"Any accusations regarding alleged preparations for an attack on the Russian Federation are baseless and manipulative. We call on the Iranian side to refrain from any statements or steps that will fuel Russia's aggression against Ukraine," Nikolenko said.
