Zelensky thanks Belgium for support for granting Ukraine EU candidate status

President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo for the support for granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for European Union membership.

“Talked to Belgium’s PM Alexander De Croo. Thanked for the support of granting Ukraine candidate status for EU membership & significant assistance during Russia’s full-scale invasion. We expect Belgium to make a significant contribution to the reconstruction of Ukraine,” Zelensky posted on Twitter.

Zelensky also invited De Croo to visit Ukraine.

As reported, the European Council will hold a substantive discussion on granting Ukraine the status of a country candidate for membership in the European Union at a meeting on June 23-24.
