Moldova could look into quitting CIS over Russian aggression toward Ukraine

The Government of the Republic of Moldova intends to analyze the norms and agreements on the compliance of the country's membership in the CIS against the background of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and Moldova's priority to become a European Union member.

This was stated on Monday on PRO TV by Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu, Ukrinform reports.

"Integration into the European Union is an absolute priority for our country," Popescu said.

He noted that the state leadership intends to "analyze" both legislative acts and agreements on Moldova's membership in the CIS. At the same time, the Minister also drew attention to the changing regional situation, namely the aggression Russia is waging toward Ukraine.
