Ukraine has already received $1B in U.S. assistance, another $7.5B on its way - Ambassador

The Ambassador of the United States to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, says $1 billion in direct support is already in Ukraine to keep the country and its people moving forward, while another $7.5 billion is yet to be transferred.

The diplomat delivered the news via Twitter following a meeting with the leadership of the ministries of finance and economy, and the National Bank, Ukrinform reports.

" As I shared with Ukraine's economic leadership at  @mineconomdev @UA_minfin @NBUkraine_eng, standing with Ukraine means bolstering its economy. $1 billion in direct support is already here to keep Ukraine and its people moving forward, and $7.5 billion more is on the way,” Brink tweeted.

The Ambassador noted that she saw “determination” in the eyes of the Ukrainian people, who are already working on reconstruction, and heard it in their voices.

"We will ensure our assistance gets to those who need it and supports a sovereign, independent, democratic, and prosperous Ukraine," the diplomat wrote.

As reported, since Russian invasion, Ukraine has received more than $6 billion in external assistance in the form of grants and loans. Ukraine needs an additional $5 billion a month to cover the current needs.
