The new Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, Yulia Kovaliv, has presented her credentials to Governor-General Mary Simon, thus officially taking the helm of the Embassy.

This was reported by an Ukrinform correspondent.

The ceremony took place at the Governor-General’s residence in Ottawa.

According to the Ukrainian diplomat, after the formal events, she thanked the Governor General of Canada for supporting Ukraine since the first days of Russian invasion, noting how impressed she was by the attention to the country, the encouragement to share with Canada and the Canadians the news of the war challenges, as well as by the active readiness to help Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.

It should be noted that after the previous Ambassador, Andriy Shevchenko, was recalled from Ottawa last year as part of regular diplomatic rotation, the embassy remained without a new head for several months.
