Nobody will ever recognize Russian passportization within occupied areas – Maasikas

Nobody will ever recognize either ‘passportization’ in Kherson Region, or any kind of ‘referendums’, planned by Russian occupation forces.

The relevant statement was made by Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Russian occupation forces had to abandon all ideas of a ‘referendum’ in Kherson region due to the lack of any support. Why do they think that the now planned ‘passportizatsiya’ will have better uptake? And in any case, nobody will recognize any acts of that kind, ever,” Maasikas wrote.

A reminder that, on May 25, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree simplifying the process for residents of the temporarily occupied areas of Zaporizhzhia Region and Kherson Region to acquire Russian citizenship and passports.

In Kherson Region, Russian invaders are blocking humanitarian corridors, evacuation efforts and abducting civilians, including journalists, community heads, activists, ATO participants, farmers and teachers.
