Seven countries ready to become Ukraine’s security guarantors – Yermak

Seven countries have already agreed to become Ukraine’s security guarantors. Meanwhile, Ukraine would also like to see the People’s Republic of China among them.

The relevant statement was made by Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Each country has its history and politics. Today we can say we would like to see China, India and, perhaps, other countries among the security guarantors. But, this depends on the position of such countries. So far, China has not publicly expressed their readiness for such talks. There are contacts, of course,” Yermak told.

Meanwhile, Yermak expressed hope for China to join, when a draft document on security guarantees is ready.

“China is a serious player in the international arena. We have the highest trade turnover with China, and I believe this would be important to both China and Ukraine. But, it will be a position of the sovereign state,” Yermak stressed.

In his words, many strategic partners have already agreed to become Ukraine’s security guarantors, namely the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Italy, and others.
