Dutch embassy resumes operations in Kyiv

The Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine has resumed its operations in Kyiv.

That's according to Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra, Ukrinform reports, citing the NOS news site.

"The Dutch embassy in Kyiv will reopen today," Hoekstra said ahead of a weekly cabinet meeting.

Shortly before the Russian invasion of Ukraine started, the Netherlands moved its embassy from Kyiv to Lviv. Currently, a small number of embassy staff may return to Kyiv.

Hoekstra also stressed that the embassy in the capital is important because there is close cooperation with Ukraine. The Netherlands provides humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine.

Hoekstra noted that the Netherlands has joined forces with other countries that have already returned their embassy staff to Kyiv.

Earlier, the Dutch Embassy in Ukraine temporarily moved from Kyiv to Lviv for security reasons. The relevant decision was made on February 20.
