Transnistria has always borne risks to Ukraine - Podoliak

The Ukrainian authorities have always viewed the unrecognized "Transnistrian Moldavian Republic" as a springboard for potential risks to Ukraine, so everything is well thought out in terms of defending the territory adjacent to the region.

Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, stated this on the air of the national telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Ukraine's top political and military leadership realizes all the risks that the Russian Federation is producing today. We have always considered Transnistria as a springboard that may pose certain risks for us - for Odesa and Vinnytsia regions. That's why everything there is thought out from the point of view of defense," said the adviser to the head of the President’s Office.

At the same time, he expressed doubts about Transnistria openly joining the war against Ukraine on the side of the Russian Federation. Podoliak believes that the report on the shelling of the unrecognized "Transnistrian region" is nothing but media provocations inherent in Russia.

As Ukrinform reported, on April 26, explosions at a radio and television broadcasting center were reported in the Transnistrian region near the village of Maiac. The day before, a series of explosions hit the headquarters of the local Ministry of State Security in Tiraspol, with no casualties reported.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that the explosions in the capital of the unrecognized "Transnistrian Moldavian Republic" are an intended provocation staged by Russian special services.
