Kuleba: Ukraine requests urgent meeting of UN Security Council

Ukraine has requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

“Ukraine has requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council due to Russia’s illegal actions. We have already sent the request to the Council,” Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba posted on Twitter.

As reported, during his 55-minute speech on Russian TV, Russian president Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic” and “Donetsk People’s Republic” and signed the relevant decrees. Putin instructed the Ministry of Defense to ensure "the implementation of peacekeeping functions" in these territories.
