Kuleba calls on EU to hold foreign ministers meeting in Kyiv

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has addressed the countries of the European Union and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell with a proposal to hold a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Kyiv.

He stated this during a virtual briefing on Wednesday, January 26, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"This week, I officially addressed all EU countries and EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell with a proposal to support the initiative of my Romanian colleague and to hold a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Kyiv," Kuleba said.

He said this idea had already received positive feedback among Ukrainian partners, and now they are working to ensure consensus on this issue.

"If this happens, it will be the first such event ever, and they are already working on this," he said.

Kuleba expressed hope that even European countries that have certain discussions with Ukraine on certain issues will put aside these secondary issues and focus on the main thing: the security of Europe, the security of the Euro-Atlantic area.
