Blinken, Cavusoglu discuss Russian threat to Ukraine

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu have discussed the threat of Russian escalation in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, Blinken announced this on his Twitter account.

"Good call with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. The United States and Turkey continue our close coordination on the threat of Russian escalation in Ukraine and, separately, to deepen cooperation bilaterally and as NATO Allies," he wrote.

Blinken and his colleagues from the Bucharest Nine (B9) on January 3 discussed the situation related to Russia's military build-up along Ukraine's border, noting the need for a united, ready and resolute NATO stance for the collective defense of allies.

Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden in a phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky said that the United States, its allies and partners would respond decisively in the event of a further Russian invasion of Ukraine.
