Zelensky hopes for constructive dialogue with Scholz, new German government

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky looks forward to maintaining a constructive dialogue with Olaf Scholz and the new German government.

According to Ukrinform, the head of state wrote this on Twitter.

"Congratulations to Olaf Scholz and the new German government on the beginning of their work! I am prepared for joint work on the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity, the development of energy cooperation and Ukraine's movement towards the EU and NATO. I hope for constructive dialogue and look forward to our meeting," Zelensky said.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also congratulated Scholz on his election.

"I sincerely congratulate Olaf Scholz on his election as Federal Chancellor of Germany! Ukraine hopes for fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation with the new German government," Shmyhal tweeted.

Social Democrat Olaf Scholz was elected the new German chancellor on Wednesday, December 8.
