EU calls on Rada to adopt bill on NABU status

The European Union has called on the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, to adopt Bill No. 5459-1 on bringing the status of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) into line with the requirements of the Constitution, the EU Delegation to Ukraine has reported on Twitter.

"It is important that legal amendments No. 5459-1 to the Law on NABU are adopted by the Ukrainian Parliament today. It will safeguard the independence and effectiveness of NABU, crucial for achieving tangible results in the fight against high-level corruption. The EU counts on the Ukrainian Parliament's commitment to this fight," the tweet reads.

The Verkhovna Rada is to consider Bill No. 5459-1 on the NABU status on Tuesday, October 19.
