Zelensky hopes to continue Ukrainian-Estonian cooperation with new president

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has congratulated Alar Karis on his election as President of Estonia and expressed hope that close cooperation between the two countries would continue.

Zelensky wrote this on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.

"I sincerely congratulate Alar Karis on his election as President of Estonia following the vote by Riigikogu deputies. I hope close cooperation between Ukraine and Estonia will continue for the benefit of our peoples," Zelensky said.

Karis was elected Estonia's president at an extraordinary sitting of the Estonian parliament in the second round. He received 72 votes by secret ballot.
