Zelenska: First lady needs to be granted official status

If there is a public demand for the activities of the first lady, an official format should be established.

"We discussed this issue during personal meetings with the wives of presidents of other countries. Many of us have the same reality: there are activities, but few clear opportunities and rules that we can use. If society has a demand for the activities of the first lady, it would be logical to have an official format of how to carry out this activity. For example, there is the charter of the president's wife in the French Republic created for Brigitte Macron. There is the Office of the First Lady of the United States," President's wife Olena Zelenska said in an interview with the FOCUS media outlet, Ukrinform reports.

She added that in Ukraine it would be enough to assign several employees of the President's Office to officially accompany the activities of the first lady.

"Currently, I get help from time to time. But these people remain employees of the President's Office, I can't rely on all their time," Zelenska said.

As reported, the Kyiv Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen will take place in Kyiv on August 23, on the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day. The event is organized on the initiative of First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.
