Russia starts pressuring countries that declare participation in Crimean Platform – Nykyforov

Countries that openly declare their participation in the Crimean Platform experience pressure put by diplomats and special services of the Russian Federation.

“It should be understood that any country that confirms its 100% participation in the Crimean Platform is immediately put under pressure by diplomats and, perhaps, the special services of the Russian Federation. It is a question of how the country can resist this pressure. For some, it is bearable, for others, it is not. Therefore, some keep their participation in the Crimean Platform secret, some boldly declare it immediately. In any case, the Crimean Platform is coming soon and we will find out which countries will participate and at what level,” Spokesperson of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Nykyforov said at a briefing when asked about the foreign leaders who confirmed their participation in the Crimean Platform for sure and who are still making up their mind.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 29 countries had already confirmed their participation in the Crimean Platform summit in Kyiv on August 23.

The Crimean Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to step up the efficiency of international response to the occupation of Crimea, respond to growing security challenges, increase international pressure on Russia, prevent further human rights violations, protect victims of the occupation regime, and achieve the main goal: to de-occupy Crimea and return it to Ukraine.
