CDA Kent notes significant progress on Ukrainian judicial system reforms

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary George Kent, who currently serves as Chargé d'Affaires in Ukraine, has hosted a roundtable on combatting corruption, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv has reported on Twitter.

According to the tweet, Kent hosted an anti-corruption roundtable, noting significant recent progress on Ukrainian judicial system reforms and the importance of the integrity of Ukraine's Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) selection process.

"Participants also discussed the need for further reform of Ukraine's defense industry and full implementation of the defense procurement law," the tweet reads.

The Verkhovna Rada on July 14 passed a law reforming the High Council of Justice.

On July 13, the Ukrainian parliament adopted a law introducing amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the Judicial System and the Status of Judges" and to some laws of Ukraine resuming the work of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.
