Zelensky introduces Monastyrsky to Interior Ministry staff

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has introduced the newly appointed Interior Minister, Denys Monastyrsky, to the Interior Ministry staff.

According to Ukrinform, the event was broadcast live on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.

"I want to trust and I want to be proud of every representative of the Interior Ministry," Zelensky said.

The Verkhovna Rada on Friday appointed Monastyrsky as Ukraine's interior minister. Some 271 MPs voted for this decision.

Prior to his appointment, Monastyrsky served as an MP from the Servant of the People faction and headed the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement.

Former Interior Minister Arsen Avakov tendered his resignation on July 13, and the parliament dismissed him on July 15.
