Ukraine interested in developing climate partnership with France - Stefanishyna

Ukraine is interested in developing a climate partnership with France, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna said at a meeting with France's Ecological Transition Minister Barbara Pompili, according to the European integration portal.

"Ukraine is interested in developing a climate partnership, exchanging experience and building a public-private partnership with France," Stefanishyna said.

In particular, during the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the European Green Deal, as well as cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels to achieve the climate ambitions of Ukraine and the EU.

"Ukraine has clearly stated about its desire to bring its policies and legislation closer to the European green course. Today, ecology is becoming a new economy, and we cannot stay away from this process. At the same time, we understand that Ukraine’s transition to a climate-neutral economy will require significant investment in all sectors of the economy,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

In this context, she stressed the importance of partners’ support, in particular France, in accessing Ukraine and Ukrainian business to relevant financial instruments and resources.

In turn, Pompili stressed that France pays much attention to environmental transformation in Europe, and welcomed Ukraine's desire to be part of these changes.

As reported by Ukrinform, Stefanishyna is on an official visit to France on July 12-13.
