Zelensky says he pays special attention to countering security challenges in Black Sea region

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he pays special attention to countering new security challenges in the Black Sea region and cooperation between the fleets of the Black Sea states.

He stated this at the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. International Relations" on Monday, July 5, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"I pay special attention to countering new security challenges in the Black Sea region, cooperation between the fleets of the Black Sea states. We need to continue to be proactive here. […] Only the strengthening of our leadership positions in the Black Sea region will allow us to maintain peace in the region, safety and freedom of navigation," Zelensky said.

Zelensky said on July 4 that the international military exercises Sea Breeze 2021 demonstrate the unity of Ukraine and its partners in confronting military threats that are intensifying in the Black Sea region due to Russia's aggressive actions.

Sea Breeze 2021 lasts from June 28 until July 10 and is the largest exercise in the past 20 years.
