Tsymbaliuk urges Russia to stop supplying jammers to occupied areas of eastern Ukraine

Russia must stop supplying electronic warfare systems to the temporarily occupied territories of eastern Ukraine, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk has said.

"Another long-range UAV lost by the OSCE SMM due to jamming. We share SMM’s view that these UAVs are essential part of its operations, especially at night and in areas with restricted freedom of movement. High time for Russia to stop supplying radio electronic warfare systems to Donbas," Tsymbaliuk posted on Twitter.

On June 29, an SMM long-range unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) took off and conducted a flight over government-controlled areas of Donetsk region. While attempting to land around 23:30-23:35 at its base in Stepanivka (government-controlled, 54km north of Donetsk), the UAV experienced dual GPS signal interference, assessed as caused by jamming, resulting in an intermittent loss of spatial control.

This significantly hinders the Mission’s ability to conduct effective monitoring and reporting of the security situation.
