Ukraine ratifies agreements with France to improve water supply in Luhansk region and Kyiv city

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified a framework agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the French Republic to support the financing of a project to improve the drinking water supply in Luhansk region.

A total of 348 MPs voted in favor of the relevant decision on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the explanatory note, the document was developed at the initiative of the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine in accordance with the requirements of the Law "On International Treaties of Ukraine."

Thus, the adoption of the document will create a legal basis for the implementation of the framework agreement and the investment project to improve the supply of drinking water in Luhansk region.

The total amount of funds from the government of the French Republic for the implementation of the project is EUR 70 million.

In addition, 349 MPs voted for the law on ratification of the framework agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the French Republic regarding the official support for the project to improve water supply in the city of Kyiv.

According to the explanatory note, the ratification of the agreement and its entry into force will create a legal basis for attracting resources in the form of a concessional treasury loan in the amount of EUR 70 million by concluding separate credit and other contracts / agreements for the activities of the investment project to improve the water supply of the city of Kyiv.
