Zelensky meets with Grybauskaite

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Dalia Grybauskaite, President of the Republic of Lithuania in 2009-2019.

At the meeting, Zelensky noted Grybauskaite's significant personal contribution to the development and strengthening of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Lithuania, Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the President’s Office.

"I know that you love Ukraine, you have done a lot for its sovereignty and support. We are very grateful to you and are always happy to welcome you," Zelensky said.

Grybauskaite noted that the Ukrainian people are heroes who fight for their country and its future.

The parties discussed Ukraine's progress towards membership in the European Union and NATO. Zelensky noted the role of Dalia Grybauskaite, as during her presidency Lithuania became one of the most loyal supporters of Ukraine’s course towards full membership in these organizations.

Zelensky also told about the difficult security situation in eastern Ukraine and in the temporarily occupied Crimea. He also informed the former President of Lithuania about the main tasks of the Crimean Platform initiative and told about the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen initiated by Ukraine, which will take place as part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
