NSDC meeting may take place on June 18

A meeting of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) is likely to take place next week on Friday, according to David Arakhamia, the chairman of the political council of the Servant of the People party.

He said this at a press conference on Thursday, June 10, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"[NSDC meetings are held] always on Fridays. I think this is a tradition. But this Friday, it seems it won't take place. It is being prepared for next Friday," Arakhamia said.

The National Security and Defense Council at its June 4 meeting, chaired by President Volodymyr Zelensky, considered the issue of deepening Ukraine's integration into NATO and heard reports on the implementation of its previous decisions. A unanimous decision was made following a discussion of urgent measures to deepen Ukraine's integration into the North Atlantic Alliance, which was considered "in secret."

In addition, the issue of the security situation on the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as in the Kherson, Zaporizhia, Odesa, Mykolaiv and Donetsk regions, was considered "in secret."

The NSDC adopted a report on the results of the review of the national system for combating terrorism and also decided to expand the network of situational centers operating in the security and defense sector.

Among other things, participants in the meeting discussed the development of the aircraft industry in the coming years and the sending of a national contingent for Ukraine's participation in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
