German arms deliveries won’t help resolve conflict in eastern Ukraine – Maas

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas believes that the military conflict in eastern Ukraine can only be resolved by political means.

“I am convinced the conflict (in eastern Ukraine) can only be resolved by political means,” Maas told journalists on Tuesday, Reuters reports.

He noted that German arms deliveries would not resolve the conflict.

“This will remain the guideline of our engagement with Ukraine, and there will be no change: Arms deliveries won’t help,” he added.

As Ukrinform reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that he would like Germany to supply its weapons to Ukraine.
