Ukraine invites Montenegro to Crimean Platform summit

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar invited Montenegro’s leaders to take part in the Crimean Platform summit in August.

“I briefed Ljubomir Mišurović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro about Crimean Platform, reiterated the invitation to Montenegro’s leadership to take part in the summit on August 23,” Dzheppar posted on Twitter.

As noted, the parties also discussed Russia’s illegal blockade of the Kerch Strait, the situation of Ukrainian political prisoners held by Russia, and the ban on the activities of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People.

The Crimean Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to improve the efficiency of the international response to the occupation of Crimea, respond to growing security challenges, step up international pressure on Russia, prevent further human rights violations, protect victims of the occupation regime, and achieve the de-occupation of Crimea.

The first Crimean Platform summit is scheduled for August 23, 2021.
