Slovakia’s president to take part in Crimean Platform summit – PM Heger

President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová will take part in the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform, Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger has said.

"Yes, Slovakia will take part in the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform. We will be represented by President Čaputová," Heger said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, Slovakia strongly supports Ukraine and its European aspirations.

"The position of the Slovak government is clear - it is defined in the Manifesto of the Government of the Slovak Republic on support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, support for reforms. We are in favor of deepening mutual cooperation," the PM stressed.

As a reminder, the Crimean Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to improve the efficiency of the international response to the occupation of Crimea, respond to growing security challenges, step up international pressure on Russia, prevent further human rights violations, protect victims of the occupation regime, and achieve the de-occupation of Crimea.

The first Crimean Platform summit is scheduled for August 23, 2021.
