Government approves action plan to implement regional development strategy

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a three-year action plan to implement the State Strategy for Regional Development.

The relevant decision was approved at a government’s off-site meeting in Chernihiv region on Wednesday, May 12, an Ukrinform correspondent repots.

Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov said that the government approved an action plan for 2021-2023 to implement the State Strategy for Regional Development for 2021-2027. He added that this decision would contribute to the balanced social and economic development of the regions of Ukraine.

"The draft three-year action plan provides an opportunity to consolidate the efforts of central and local executive bodies together with local authorities to implement more than 200 measures to ensure sustainable development of each region and community," Chernyshov said.

According to him, the action plan specifies the actions of the state in the implementation of regional policy, the steps of certain state bodies in the implementation of regional policy, determines the dates of adoption of regulatory documents.

As reported, in August 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers passed a draft resolution approving the state strategy for regional development for 2021-2027. The strategy outlines the main directions and problems of social and economic development of the regions in the context of national challenges, as well as provides funding for such strategies.
