United States supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence – Blinken

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said the United States supports Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.

He said this at a press conference following a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Thursday, May 6, Ukrinform reports.

"I came to Ukraine to personally confirm to you our strong support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, our partnership," Blinken said.

He added that all G7 countries share the U.S. position.

The secretary of state also stressed that the United States values friendship and partnership with Ukraine, adding that Ukraine is now on its way to developing and rebuilding this partnership.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the Minsk process.

"We have also discussed diplomacy, the Minsk process, and commitments under this agreement, and we are trying to find ways to promote diplomacy. However, Russia continues to refuse to act in good faith. This refers to both Crimea and Donbas. It is important, first of all, to regain control over the borders, as well as territorial integrity and sovereignty within the legal borders of Ukraine," Blinken said.

On May 6, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Ukraine on a working visit, during which he met with top officials and public figures.
