Ukraine appreciates Georgia's support in struggle for territorial integrity – Razumkov

Ukraine appreciates Georgia's support in the struggle for the country’s territorial integrity, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov has said.

He said this during a phone conversation with Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Archil Talakvadze, the press service of the Ukrainian parliament reports.

"Ukraine highly appreciates Georgia's constant support in the struggle for territorial integrity," Razumkov stated.

He noted that the support of partners on international platforms and the sanctions policy against the aggressor help Ukraine to defend its territorial integrity.

The speaker of the Ukrainian parliament recalled the events of August 8, 2008, when the war in Georgia began. "We know what the Russian Federation can do. We have seen the situation in Crimea and Donbas… You know well what the occupied territories are, given the situation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia," Razumkov stressed.

He thanked Georgia for its support of Ukraine over the years, especially in the context of the escalation of the conflict, which is currently observed in Donbas. "I am grateful for the support we feel from Georgia. Together with such partners, we can defend independence," the speaker added.

As reported, on April 15, 2021, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili. The two presidents discussed the escalating security situation in Donbas, emphasizing the dangerous trend towards an increase in the number of ceasefire violations and the number of killed soldiers.
