Yenin, Pakistani ambassador discuss steps to enhance cooperation between two countries

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin met with Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Ukraine Noel Israel Khokhar to discuss steps to intensify cooperation between the two countries, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service has reported.

"The parties discussed steps to intensify cooperation between Ukraine and Pakistan in trade, economic, military and technical spheres," the report reads.

During the meeting, the ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan's readiness to deepen comprehensive cooperation with Ukraine, develop high-level bilateral contacts, and update the legal framework.

For his part, Yenin stressed the importance of holding a constituent meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the next round of political consultations of the foreign ministries in the near future.

As a reminder, in 2020, trade between Ukraine and Pakistan amounted to USD 411.813 million, in particular Ukrainian exports was USD 331.096 million (+525.7% compared to 2019), and Pakistani imports - USD 80.717 million (+103% compared to last year). The positive balance for Ukraine was USD 250.379 million.

In April 2020, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Markiyan Chuchuk as Ukraine’s ambassador to Pakistan.
