Ukrainian prosecutor general meets with Uzbek ambassador

Ukraine's Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova has met with Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Ukraine Alisher Kurmanov, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office has reported.

During the meeting, they discussed the issues of further deepening cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine and the competent authorities of Uzbekistan, in particular, the formation of a joint roadmap for the implementation of measures in priority areas for the two countries.

"We have a lot in common. Special attention should be paid to the return of assets, counteraction to drug and arms smuggling, the fight against terrorism and illegal migration," Venediktova said.

She noted that the protection of investments in the country has become a new priority for today's Ukrainian prosecutor's office.

"The prosecutor's office has set itself the goal of counteracting the pressure on business. This is done by a separate unit of the Prosecutor General's Office, thanks to which we have already managed to stop illegal actions and help attract investment from international business and create additional jobs in the country," she added.

Kurmanov, in turn, thanked for the meeting and stated the importance of studying Ukraine's international practice and experience in various fields.

The parties also discussed the signing of a cooperation program between the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan for 2022-2023.

"We can already begin some training for the exchange of experience on the basis of specialized educational institutions, as well as with the involvement of the Training Center for Prosecutors. We are open to new opportunities for rapprochement with other states in order to more effectively implement our constitutional functions and increase the effectiveness of our work," Venediktova said.
