Ukraine planning to withdraw from two more CIS agreements

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation has recommended that the Verkhovna Rada support two government bills on Ukraine's withdrawal from two more agreements within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Policy Maryna Bardina said this in a comment to Ukrinform.

According to her, these are draft laws No. 0085 "On withdrawal from the Agreement on the main areas of cooperation of the CIS member states in the field of consumer protection", and No.0088 "On withdrawal from the Agreement on cooperation in legal protection and intellectual property protection and creation of the Interstate Council on Legal Protection and Protection of Intellectual Property”.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine announced a decision to quit the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2014.

In 2019, Ukraine completed the process of quitting the coordination bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
