Defense ministers of Ukraine and Japan meet online

Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Taran and Minister of Defense of Japan Nobuo Kishi held a two-hour online meeting, during which they discussed a very wide range of issues.

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Japan Serhiy Korsunsky wrote about this on his Facebook page.

"The online meeting of the defense ministers of Ukraine and Japan lasted for two hours - twice as long as planned. A frank and useful discussion on an extremely wide range of issues. No compromises on the content due to the chosen online form. Details will be disclosed in the official reports of the defense ministries of the two countries," Korsunsky wrote.

As Ukrinform previously reported, an offline meeting between Ukrainian Defense Minister Andrii Taran and Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi was canceled because one of the members of the Ukrainian delegation tested positive for COVID-19.

Taran held a video meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan UTO Takashi, during which they discussed security issues in East Asia and Donbas, as well as Japan's participation in the Crimean Platform summit.

Minister Taran’s visit to Japan – the first-ever in the history of bilateral relations – began on March 16.
