Kuleba to take part in ‘Crimea: 7 years of violations’ meeting on March 12

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will take part in a meeting entitled "Crimea: 7 years of violations of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity" on March 12.

"On March 12, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, together with a number of ministers and deputy foreign ministers of the partner countries, will take part in a virtual “Arria-formula” meeting entitled "Crimea: 7 years of violations of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity"," the Foreign Ministry’s press service reports.

The meeting is organised by the UN Security Council members – Estonia, France, Ireland, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the USA – together with additional co-sponsors Australia, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey and Ukraine.

Speeches will be delivered by UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Ms Ilze Brands Kehris, President of the Potomac Foundation Dr Phillip Karber, and Coordinator of Media Initiative for Human Rights Ms Maria Tomak.

This Arria-formula meeting will mark seven years since the attempted annexation by the Russian Federation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, an act not recognized by the international community.

The meeting provides an opportunity to hear direct accounts about the deteriorating situation on the ground regarding massive militarisation, human rights violations and abuses, as well as the economic and environmental situation on the peninsula temporarily occupied by Russia.

The event will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel.

The Arria-formula meeting on the temporary occupation of Crimea is an annual event held by Ukraine and its partners to draw attention to the tragic events of February-March 2014.
