Şentop: Turkey to provide necessary support for Crimean Platform

Turkey will provide the necessary support for the newly created Crimean Platform. The Parliament of Turkey supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and Turkish and Ukrainian parliamentarians work in concert on various international platforms.

"I can say that all political parties represented in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey are unanimous in supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. In addition, I know that many of our lawmakers, who represent the provinces where our citizens of Crimean origin live, are closely following the events in Ukraine and the issues of Crimea. They take an active position and advocate that these issues should be raised at the international level," Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop said in an interview with Ukrinform on the eve of his official visit to Ukraine.

He noted that Ukrainian and Turkish parliamentarians worked in concert in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

"Turkish MPs work in concert with Ukrainian colleagues, support them and take note of the illegal actions against Crimean Tatars. You can be sure that Turkey will provide the necessary support for the newly created Crimean Platform, as well as in other issues," he said.

The Turkish politician noted that it is important to raise awareness of the problem, especially in the international arena, and to ensure that the issue of attempted annexation is raised on all possible international platforms and the voice of Crimean Tatars is heard.

The visit of the Turkish delegation led by Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop will take place on March 5-6 at the invitation of Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov. The program of the visit includes meetings with the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, representatives of business and the diaspora.
